Aerobatic High-G Flight #1 Decathlon

The PoSSUM Scientist-Astronaut Program at the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University includes fully immersive training to provide the skills required to effectively conduct research on the next generation of commercial space vehicles. This included Aerobatic High-G Flight in the Decathlon. Pilot Captain Tim of the Patty Wagstaff Aerobatic School takes PoSSUM Artist-Astronaut Candidate Dr Sarah Jane Pell through the following flight sequence Gx, L 2Gz, R 2Gz, L 3Gz, R 3Gz, 4Gz-0G, 0G, Gy, -1Gz, -2Gz, and -Gx to prepare her for the Xcor Lynx II flight profile. Her objectives are: 1) To perform optimally in a high-G environment, mitigating G-induced blackouts through the use of anti-G equipment and AGSM breathing techniques. 2) To effectively understand and manage your physiological responses to high-G and changing-G environments through actual biometric analysis. 3) Have fun.

Aerobatic High-G Flight #2 Extra 300

Get a taste of Aerobatic Flying in the Extra 300. This stunt plane is rated to positive 8 G’s and negative 8 G’s. Our profile included L 2Gz, R 3Gz, 4Gz-0G, Gy, and -1G to simulate a suborbital flight profile and practice the anti G-Lock manoeuvre.
